Christmas Morning

This has to be THE coolest picture I have ever seen!!!! Most of the time when my digital camera blurs it makes me really mad, because it is usually on a potentially great shot. This time, however, the blur totally worked to my advantage. PandaGirl was just moving quickly to the new dollhouse we had waiting for her in the living room and wahlah!!...this amazing picture is was happened. I can't wait to blow it up for scrapbooking. I couldn't have planned this pic at all. I LOVE IT!!!

This dollhouse has always been in PG's room as a white and pink storage shelf with cute little baskets. We painted it butter yellow and espresso brown and "wallpapered" it with scrapbook papers for her to have a huge dollhouse. We just weren't pleased with any that we saw at toy stores. We also don't really care for the cheap plastic blue and pink furniture, so instead we are piecing together the real stuff. Our great find was right before Christmas finding the furniture 50% off at a hobby store. Woohoo!! Now we can add more stuff for birthdays, etc. She loves it and has little Asian people in it. I don't know what I was thinking when I made a kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc. and expected all the furniture to remain in its appropriate place. HA! She is four and the first thing she did was rearrange ALL the furniture to different rooms. Oh well, it's HER house and she can decorate any way she wants. Too funny!

I've Been Tagged! Six ODD things about Me...

Well, I know for a fact that there are far MORE than six ODD things about me, but my blogging friend tagged me with this so here we go...(not sure how "odd" these things are, but they are me)...
1. I have been in love with smooth jazz since I was a senior in high school ('89). I don't know too many artists, but I crave to listen to it sometimes.

2. I love the sound of the hum of the bridge on the Star Trek Enterprise. PandaPop and I have watched over and over all the episodes of The Next Generation and Voyager. Since we were without children for eleven years we got into TV and movies and listening to this sound while the show is on is very soothing to me. We even named our cats Worf and Geordi. They now live in heaven (don't comment on THAT issue!) but were with us for almost 12 years. By hearing our cats' names we can instantly tell who is a Trekkie and who isn't. HA!

3. I HAVE to have milk. Can't go without it. I love it with almost any food. When we run out and maybe go a day without it I start to CRAVE it!

4. I have day-dreamed of living in the Hundred Acre Wood, you know, from Winnie the Pooh.

5. With some mild form of ADD I'm sure, I will get lost in remembering all the stories behind all my charms on my charm bracelet if I am wearing it at a place that hasn't captured my full attention, ie meetings, conferences, church...oops! did I really print that?? ; )

6. Because of my very fair skin I always carry an umbrella in the summer to events that I know I will be in the sun. My friends just expect it now. My favorite one is my bright jewel tone rainbow umbrella. I've always longed for skin that would tan, but it won't. I stopped fighting it several years ago. In fact, the last time I really burned badly was in 7th grade. I just don't want skin cancer when I can do something about it.

I love silly things in life! Hope you had fun reading about just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to me being "odd". Smile.

Christmas Eve Service

I just love the sweetness in this pic. PandaGirl was so big to hold her own candle for the lighting service. We are so blessed. Thank you, Jesus. Happy Birthday.

Christmas Eve

We continued our new Christmas tradition this year for the second time...cooking our own Chinese food and having banana pudding. Well, we were going to be gone and the pudding would go bad so we opted for peppermint ice cream and a warm brownie instead...perfect! We are dining on our knew table which was our big present for ourselves this year. We had a very nice hand-me-down for ten years. This was our first time to purchase one and we love it! It is pub-height with tall chairs. This last pic of PandaGirl is true Chinese form. Drinking your food from your bowl is just a way of life in China. She wanted all the drippings of that ice cream!

The look on PandaGirls face was priceless! She had very stern looking eyebrows and was concentrating very hard on her work at hand. Then after opening the gift she would soften and say a sweet spoken "thank you" and hug the present. CUTE!

Of course, with this being Miao's first Christmas with us he got his own present, too.....only, this isn't it. I guess he wanted to check out what might be hiding in here for him. Silly cat. Now we are off to the Christmas Eve service at church...

NEVER Enough Pictures!

Ever since PandaGirl got into my arms I CAN'T STOP taking pictures of her!!! It seems that I have to take a picture every Sunday because I think she is soooo cute in all her clothes! She now knows to just smile, pose or whatever to just deal with this photo-crazed mom. I am very grateful for digital cameras that allow me to delete or else we'd be in debt from me taking so many pics!

Merry Christmas 2006!

This is our family Christmas card that we sent out this year. (The bottom portion is croppped off so that our full names wouldn't show.) The tiny writing says: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." The rest of this verse, John 1:14 goes on to say: "We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father full of grace and truth." (All of it wouldn't fit on the little card!) I started last year with the verse on our card and I want to continue it as a tradition. Jesus is THE only reason we have Christmas. I love enjoying all the festive things that go along with the season, but without the HOPE of Jesus all is in vain. I love just sending a pic into one of those companies that do all the work, they mail it to me and I stuff it in the envelope. Easy-peasy! If you haven't gotten one then I have lost your address. Know that I love you, my friends and family, but sometimes I am REALLY blonde and forget where I put some addresses. Hope everyone is making every effort to celebrate and have joy because of Jesus coming here to save us! The free gift of eternal life is open to ANYONE who will accept it!

Changing our path...

Well, it seems as though China has decided to change the criteria for who gets to adopt baby girls from their country. They are putting into effect some pretty stout stipulations in order to be eligible to adopt. We are not going to fit this new set of standards. Just like that. Our adoption of Angela Hope is cut off.....or at least postponed. So many families are going to be devastated by this new set of rules. I am more than grateful that we already have our PandaGirl. I am grieving over the "loss" of Hope for the time being, but we believe that China will get back to regular adoptions eventually. So many people adopted in the past few years that I think they got a bit overworked and overloaded. Surely when things calm down they will allow more "average Joes" to continue to add to their family. The amazing thing is that with this information I didn't breakdown crying. Instead I prayed and called a local agency to get info on adopting domestically. We have had a name for a baby boy picked out almost as long as we have had PandaGirl. We always hoped that AFTER Hope we would be able to adopt him, but now it seems as though the timeline we had all figured out is changing. Isn't that just like God? Ya know, to do things His way and on His timeline instead of our own agenda??? I am actually at total peace and almost giddy over the thought of adopting a BABY boy!! Since we got PandaGirl at 15mos. old I will be a first time mom in a different sense. We want a baby this time, not a toddler. Wow. I have always gloried in the fact that the Lord chose for me NOT to have sleepless nights with a newborn and now I am actually going in head first! We still have a lot to pray through and of course, getting through the rest of the holidays and into the new year, but we are both very excited about the new changes coming our way. PandaPop and I are telling PandaGirl tonight that Baby Hope isn't in the plan that we have been telling her about. God is directing us in a new way. Hope is not a "no", but rather a "wait". What a lesson to teach our little one about our precious heavenly Father and His perfect ways whether we understand them or not. I will share the baby boy name in a later post when we have more information and a more clear direction as to what we are going to do. Thank you for your prayers. We are blessed no matter what happens. Trust.

Brown-eyed Girls!

Playgroup was at our house today and I had them all make Christmas cookies. They were soooo cute rolling out the sugar cookie dough and pressing the cutters to make gingerbread men and stars and trees. They then were able to frost them all by themselves and add all the fun sprinkles and such. Each girl has a pink shirt that reads: "Everyone loves a brown-eyed girl." When one of the moms discovered these at TARGET, of course, we ALL had to have one! We love our brown-eyed girls so much. Merry Christmas!

Quick Trip to Salado...

As of Friday morning we found out that PandaPop needed to be a driver (Friday afternoon!) for one of our Senior Adult groups in order for them to travel 2 1/2 hours to Salado. This little town is home to a famous restaurant called The Stagecoach Inn. It has been around since the 1800s when it was an authentic place for passersby to visit. The restaurant usually needs to have reservations made for you to get in or else you stand in line a long time. We had reservations, yea! The waitresses recite the menu from memory just as they did in the old days. She quotes the price first followed by the four course meal options. We enjoyed their signature dessert: The Strawberry Kiss. This is an original recipe from the 1800s. YUM! We had a great time shopping in the antique and gifts shops and enjoying all the festive lights done up and down the streets.

Christmas Meme...

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? ~hands down...HOT CHOCOLATE!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? ~Both

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? ~white on my tree, none on my house, but will have some next year

4. Do you hang mistletoe? ~no, it's a poisonous fungus that grows on trees....I get enough kisses without it.

5. When do you put your decorations up? ~The Saturday after Thanksgiving and we always watch White Christmas!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? ~All the starchy, gooey, cheesy casseroles...yum!

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: ~I can remember actually putting out cookies for Santa and when they were gone the next morning I REALLY thought he had eaten them. I just remember always being so excited waiting for Christmas morning to open the presents. At my church I remember every year at Christmas we would have some kind of musical and afterwards the older men of the church would pass out these little clear baggies with an apple, an orange and a snack size Three Musketeers candy bar. It was tied with one of the little wire and paper twisty-ties that was red and white striped. Simple, but I always loved those.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? ~Around 2nd grade. I don't remember "how", but just that I started putting 2 and 2 together.

9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? ~Usually, only because that is how my husband grew up and it has worked out that way. I am fine with it now, but it was an adjustment. This year, though, we are opening on Christmas morning. With a four year old it just seems more fun and exciting that way.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?~White lights, red, gold and clear ornaments with several meaningful ornaments that we have collected over the past 14 years. There are some plaid bows all over it as well, with a rusty-like star on top. I like mixing the look of the shiny with the old rusty barn look. Now we are being able to add things that are made by or represent PandaGirl. This year we are even putting one on for PandaBabyGirl.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? ~Living in our part of Texas we don't really get much snow. On the possible two days in a season that snow flurries fall it is really fun and exciting, but I would not want to live in it for several months! YUCK! I very much enjoy going skiing and visiting snow, but not to live in it.

12. Can you ice skate? ~The last time I tried I was a Senior in High School. That was several years ago and too many pounds on the body to even try now.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? ~As a child I remember one year that my mom got me this little Hershey's chocolate purse with lots of flavored lip balms that for some reason really stuck with me. I loved that silly thing. I also adored the big Barbie bust/head thing that you could really brush her hair and put make-up on her. As an adult it would have to be all the jewelry that PandaPop has bought me. I love it all! The BEST one though, has to be the month before we went to get PandaGirl in China he bought me a gold panda coin FROM China and had it put in an awesome bezel and made into a ring for me. I was able to wear it when we got her and I wear it everyday. Love it!

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? ~I really am very aware of how John 1:14 is a reality for us. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father full of grace and truth." That is the heart of our home. We love all the Christmas festivities and decorations and exictement, but we are teaching PandaGirl that all that stuff doesn't matter one bit without understanding that the entire reason we celebrate Christmas is for Jesus' birth who came to us as our Savior. All the other stuff is just fun.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? ~my mother-in-law's chocolate crinkle cookies. She only makes them at Christmas and I can eat them straight out of the freezer or by the plateful!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? ~PandaPop and PandaGirl and I started our very own tradition last year. We make our own Chinese stir-fry meal with rice, veggies, chicken and egg rolls. We set the table with our Chinese placemats and dishes, eat with chopsticks and drink out of goblets (PG has her very own glass goblet!) and then we top it off with good ol' homemade banana pudding! We are soooo looking forward to continuing our newly made tradition this year!

17. What tops your tree? ~A 10-12 inch rustic Star

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? ~Both! I love doing things for other people. I have so much fun shopping and putting together goody baskets for others, but come on, who doesn't like a little something with their OWN name written on the little tag?!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Toooooooo many to name, but I have to say that "Mary Did You Know" sung by Michael English and "One Small Child" sung by Davied Meece have to be my top favs. I LOVE hearing PandaGirl sing "The First Noel" since Noel is her middle name and she also loves singing "Away in a Manger". So precious.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?? ~Yum, but only once. I'm not really into peppermint.

Cut and paste and fill this out, too! It's fun!

The Bugaloos!!!

A couple of mornings ago PandaGirl was watching "The DoodleBops" on the Disney Channel and said to me that they were my favorite when I was a little girl. I told her that I didn't watch them when I was little. She was adamant that I had told her before that I loved the DoodleBops. It rang a bell that I had told her I used to love to watch "The Bugaloos" when I was little. I "googled" it and found this great YouTube trailer of it......how exciting! I adored all those Sid and Marty Kroft shows like Land of the Lost, Sigmund and the Sea Monster, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Wonder Bug....the list goes on. I have such fun memories of these REALLY dorky shows! Enjoy going down Memory Lane and let me know if you used to watch any of these, too. I am sure that I will get a few posts from my younger blogging friends that have NO CLUE about these great 70's hits!

Playgroup Christmas Party

We had such a blast today at our playgroup Christmas party! Last year we started the tradition of giving each girl a gift from the $1 store. The girls are happy as can be and we mommies aren't out a load of $$$. PandaGirl and SpicyGirl had on the same pattern of material and we didn't even plan it. Too cute! The group shot of just the girls is less than perfect, but you get the idea. We LOVE our playgroup!!!

Reality Check...

As cute and darling as this little girl is I decided to post a few words to my new blogging buddies who are in the waiting period for their little girls from China. Other moms can surely agree with what I am saying, but I am coming about this from the perspective of someone who l-o-n-g-e-d for a child and watched with starry-eyed wonder as other mommies got to do their thing with their children while I just sat by waiting. I have thought that there is a chance that you girls waiting for your daughters could easily get caught up in how adorably cute my daughter is (that doesn't sound too biased, does it? ) and the girls in our playgroup are while forgetting that they are little people. Humans. Imperfect. They have emotions, stubborn wills, tempers, opinions and are in desperate need of a Savior just like you and me. They need discipline and training. Who wants to post pictures of a smart alec little toot? No! I want to post pictures of my sweet baby looking darling in all her clothes and doing funny things. That is NOT how things are all the time. We got our precious one at 15months old. INSTANT TODDLER! Need I say more? As much as I longed for a baby of my own and dreamed of the day that I would be a mom, nothing.....I mean NOTHING could have prepared my for the REALITY of motherhood. I wouldn't have listened. I was soooooo deadset on being a mom that I would not have heard anyone telling me how incredibly hard and challenging and life-changing it truly is. There is no way I could have understood what life would be like with a child since I had never experienced it. When we got PandaGirl she was heavy....25lbs to be exact and I thought my arms and wrists were going to fall off in China. It really hurt. Our sweet girl has a strong will that kept her alive in an orphanage for those 15 months and she was going to let us know it. While we adored her and were so excited, the reality hit me in China that my whole life just changed and I had actually prayed for it and waited a long time for this. My feelings weren't all lovey-dovey, but rather....this is HARD! I felt so guilty inside. It would be impossible to even know all the people who had lifted prayers to the Lord on our behalf long before PandaGirl was even in our arms. How could I NOT be overwhelmed with joy? I got my answer to so many tear-filled prayers. I was a mommy and I was lost. Literally for the first FIVE months I might as well have had post-partum depression, because I was in a daze wondering what I had done and how I wanted my life back the way it was with just PandaMAN and me. We were married for 11 years when we got her. Now all that "us two" was being split into "us two with a toddler". Remember that I still adored PandaGirl. It's just that when reality hit I wasn't ready and I don't know what would have gotten me ready. Enter.....personal issues. Parenting brings out so many aspects of your own personality that you never knew existed. All of a sudden you are doing anything it takes to help your child and to keep your sanity. I had emotions evoked that had literally never been a problem before and all of a sudden I was thrust into dealing with them. After that five months "training" period I really began adjusting well and was able to truly enjoy my new role as mom. I LOVE being a mom!!! I ADORE my PandaGirl and now can't wait for PandaBabyGirl to get here. Now I "know what I'm doing"....I say that almost tongue in cheek, because everyday brings new ways to learn and grow and eat a little humble pie every now and then. Maybe some of my playgroup moms will comment in the same vein. Only SpicyMom has a story similar to mine in that we were both first time moms and kinda freaked a bit at the first. Any parent can testify to the life-altering state you enter when that sweet baby comes along, not just adoptive parents with cute little China-babies. Kids are kids. They need structure, boundaries, freedom and love. Most of all they need Jesus. PandaGirl has already begun talking in spiritual ways that make my heart leap with joy! I have asked the Lord many times to write His name on her heart. She is our love. I just wanted to post a more realistic view of parenthood to my new friends. Don't be swayed into thinking my life is all charming just because my sweetie-pie takes great pics! HA! She keeps me alert, humble and on my knees. Hope all this rambling is worth a little something to you moms-to-be. Hug.

All I Really Want for Christmas....

Last year Steven Curtis Chapman came out with this new Christmas CD with this very poignant song about an orphan needing a family. Because our daughter is in our family due in part to the Chapman family making the first move I feel a sort of a connection to them as do other adoptive families with children from China. The song is ficticious, but so real to people like us who are holding or who are waiting to hold one of the precious little ones who need a mommy and daddy. Sometimes my throat chokes up so tight at the reality of what our daughter went through before we could get to her. Angels were watching over her until the perfect moment when we met. Of course, the angels still keep watch and the Lord's hand is always on her. Now as our family of three gears up for another VERY L-O-N-G wait for Angela Hope to be in our arms we pray for those families who are on the brink of getting their bundle yet it still seems so far out of reach for them. It is painful to wait. We grow in the waiting. My wish is that we had our little Angela Hope for THIS Christmas, but that won't happen for another couple of years the way China is dragging their feet. All I can rest in is the fact that I KNOW God is in control. His timing is perfect. We have an amazingly beautiful almond-eyed darling to laugh with and watch as Christmas can only be seen through the eyes of a four year old with such wonder and awe. We are so looking forward to this magical Christmas season. Every year as I grow closer in my relationship with my heavenly Father, I find myself more in awe of the Grace and mercy I am afforded because the Word CHOSE to become flesh and walk among us. Baby Jesus. His birthday is coming up, ya know. What present are YOU going to give Him? Nothing I have to give is worthy enough, yet he accepts any offering I choose to give. What a gracious God. If you don't the Jesus I am talking about personally or if you don't have the hope in your heart that I have then click on my first link to a new life in Christ.

The music that accompanies these lyrics really makes the song a tear-jerker, so go buy this awesome CD!!

Well I don’t know if you remember me or not
I’m one of the kids they brought in from the home
I was the red-haired boy in an old green flannel shirt
You may not have seen me – I was standing off alone
I didn’t come and talk to you, ‘cause that’s never worked before
And you’ll prob’ly never see this letter anyway
But just in case there’s something you can do to help me out
I’ll ask you one more time

All I really want for Christmas
Is someone to tuck me in
A shoulder to cry on if I lose
Shoulders to ride on if I win
There’s so much I could ask for
But there’s just one thing I need
All I really want for Christmas is a family

Well I guess I should go ahead and tell you now
If it’s really true about that list you have
Somehow I always seem to end up in a fight
But I’m really trying hard not to be bad
But maybe if I had a brother or a dad to wrestle with
Well, maybe they could teach me how to get along
And from everything I’ve heard
Sounds like the greatest gift on earth would be a mom

All I really want for Christmas
Is someone to tuck me in
A shoulder to cry on if I lose
Shoulders to ride on if I win
There’s so much I could ask for
But there’s just one thing I need
All I really want for Christmas

Is someone who’ll be there
To sing me “Happy Birthday”
For the next 100 years
And it’s OK if they’re not perfect
Well, even if they’re a little broken, that’s alright
‘Cause so am I

Well, I guess I should go
It’s almost time for bed
And maybe next time I write you
I’ll be at home

‘Cause all I really want for Christmas
Is someone to tuck me in
Tell me I’ll never be alone
Someone whose love will never end
Of all that I could ask for
Well, there’s just one thing I need
All I really want for Christmas
All I really want for Christmas is a family

Just a family

That’s all I really need

Leopard Print Blessings...

I think I have forgotten that my blog isn't JUST about PandaGirl and all her cuteness, but rather I can post anything I want about anything I want. Today while we were at Sam's Wholesale Club purchasing food for a party I saw this older African-American woman wearing a black skirt and turtleneck with a very furry vest, black gloves with leopard print trim along with a black velvet hat trimmed in the leopard print as well. I LOVE leopard print stuff. Don't have much of it, because too much is gaudy. A touch of it is classy. PandaPop doesn't care for it so much, but I adore it. It is a VERY common practice of mine to compliment total strangers on something that I like that they are wearing or if I like their hair cut, etc. I think most of my friends have been around me when I ask a complete stranger if I can take her picture because I love her hair. Never once has anyone told me no. Compliments make people feel good about themselves. I don't do it for anything other than I feel soooo compelled to tell them. Like, I can't go on without letting a girl know how stunning she looks, or how beautiful her eyes are or how a piece of jewelry really looks great. The list goes on and on. I love the look on someone's face when they hear a compliment out of the blue from a stranger. Sometimes it is a shy smile I get in return or embarassment that I pointed them out or sometimes there is the woman who looks like maybe it was her first compliment in a very long time. Disbelief even. I love it. Maybe that's my gift. Big woohoo, huh? Well, it makes a difference to the people I share with. OK~Back to the lady at Sam's. I went to her and told her that she looked absolutely stunning in her outfit and that her furry vest made me want to just hug her. She blew me away with her response. She took my hand and said, "Oh, honey, blessings on you. Blessings on you from the top of your head to the soles of your shoes. Oh, Father, thank you for your blessings when we don't deserve them. Oh, Lord forgives us for the things we have done today. Things we don't even realize that we've done to hurt You. Oh, I pray for healing and blessings on this precious sister. Thank you, Lord. We ask for all Your blessings to rest on us. In the name of Jesus we ask this. Amen." I was in tears!!!!! My heart was BURSTING with peace and joy! I was so blessed by her countenance and the warmth in her gloved hand holding mine. This is smack in the middle of the frozen section at Sam's, mind you. It dawns on me a few moments later after I gathered myself a bit that I had just prayed and written in my journal this morning that I really wanted the Lord to "captivate my heart with His beauty". Uh, I think I got one of those huge "YES" answers from my heavenly Father!!! Don't deserve it, but He gave it. You better believe that I will continue my lifelong habit of complimenting strangers. You know, I never saw her again in the whole store. Hmmmm. HEBREWS 13:2 DO NOT FORGET TO ENTERTAIN STRANGERS, FOR BY SO DOING SOME PEOPLE HAVE ENTERTAINED ANGELS WITHOUT KNOWING IT.

HO~HO~HO SANTA!

Whirlwind of a morning! We got off to a late start and flew to the mall to meet the rest of the playgroup for Santa pics. They were the first ones in line and waiting for us and SpicyMom and SpicyGirl. SpicyMom had a bit of a catastrophe but you can catch up on those details if she blogs it. We drove quickly the 25 minutes it usually takes to get to the mall and grabbed the girls out of the vehicle and we were all practically running through the mall to get to Santa. The little kiosk people saw we were in a hurry yet called out to us anyway to sell their wares. One in particular thought it would be fun to trick the old ladies with kids, I guess. He sent us in the wrong direction ON PURPOSE to the entire OTHER END OF THE MALL to find Santa. GRRRRRRRR!!! When we finally made it ALL the way back to the complete opposite end of this huge mall we found our friends just starting their turn for the pics. WHEW! SpicyMom and I were soooooo ticked off at the guy who lied to us. You could stand at the end of this dudes kiosk, look left and SEE Santa! There is NO way he made a mistake. He was just a jerk. Instead of the two Minister's wives witnessing to the doofus we....well, I told him how terribly rude and wrong he was for lying to us and that we were reporting him to a supervisor. He acted as though he had no idea what we were talking about. DUH! We are not THAT blonde! He totally knew. I feel badly for not showing the love of Christ. My carnal side shown today and I am not proud, but the girls were cute and PandaGirl didn't freak out like she did last year. This year she very carefully held Santa's hand and whispered to him a couple of things. So cute! HOHOHO!

Sticky Situation...ba-dum-bump!

Yes these are PandaGirl's darling little red gloves with gum all over the fingers. We were riding in our vehicle all enjoying our new gum when we all basically at the same time decided we didn't really care for the flavor anymore. PandaPop and I got rid of ours, but before I could turn around to take PG's I heard, "Uh-Ohhhhh", followed by a giggle. I tried to make her be still until we could come to a stop and I could get the gloves off of her, but telling a four year old to keep her hands frozen in midair with silly looking gum hanging all over her gloves is like trying to herd cats. Not very successful. I put the gloves in the freezer once we got home in order to make the clean up easier, but that didn't work. Now we'll just have to live with her purple, black or pink gloves. Gotta love it!

Winter Blast...Texas Style!!!

Old Man Winter blew in yesterday with a huge BANG! We went from a high of 80 on Wed. to holding out at 29 degrees on Thursday. Only in Texas! One city a couple of hours west of where we are dropped 18 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Brrrr. We are used to crazy weather changes around here, but this one was a bit much for the body to take. I adore cozy-ing up in my home with my family watching movies and staring at our Christmas tree lights, but this particular night was very special to me. I had been planning for months to attend a huge Christmas event in a city an hour and a half from me. The interstate was just too dangerous with ice to get there and I missed it, not to forget that I paid for very expensive tickets. Pooh. Very sad and disappointed. It turns out that PandaPop came down with a fever and needed some TLC from me. Life goes on and there will be some other fun event to come along. I am grateful for being healthy and safe with my hubby and PandaGirl. BTW, she thought the cold was sooooo fun! You northerners will laugh hysterically at the pic of our "snow" on the ground, but it was fun for a four year old. I get a bit giddy myself when the weather is cold and there is an excitement in the air that Christmas is all around us. Believe me, we have gone looking at Christmas lights with shorts on and the windows down on the vehicle.....NOT fun. The pic at the bottom is out my back yard area. Just a glorious site of God's creativity.
