As of Friday morning we found out that PandaPop needed to be a driver (Friday afternoon!) for one of our Senior Adult groups in order for them to travel 2 1/2 hours to Salado. This little town is home to a famous restaurant called The Stagecoach Inn. It has been around since the 1800s when it was an authentic place for passersby to visit. The restaurant usually needs to have reservations made for you to get in or else you stand in line a long time. We had reservations, yea! The waitresses recite the menu from memory just as they did in the old days. She quotes the price first followed by the four course meal options. We enjoyed their signature dessert: The Strawberry Kiss. This is an original recipe from the 1800s. YUM! We had a great time shopping in the antique and gifts shops and enjoying all the festive lights done up and down the streets.

Wow, what a neat trip & treat! Great to hear that you had such fun. Just think of all those old Cowboys in Heaven looking down and seeing all that beauty from their old rustic Tradin Post...that had cedar post 'holding pens for their cows/horses out back---now the parking lot. Wow. Obviously you all had a great time, Congrats! Love M~~~
How fun! I was thinking about taking my mom there for an over night thing. Do they have a neat place to stay? Do they have chocolate desserts?

Salado is the most fun at Christmas time. We go to the Stagecoach Inn every year on Christmas day. I have had the Strawberry Kiss many times.
Salado looks like a Winter Wonderland! I soo want to try that strawberry kiss! Too bad it's so far from AZ! :)
I love the Stagecoach Inn restaurant. When I was in high school and we lived in Waco, I went to eat there with my date before Senior Prom -- fun memories. There strawberry shortcake is so good too...wish I could have some of that yummy food right now.
